Rotaract
Community Service
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and
women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are usually
community-based or university-based and are sponsored by a
local Rotary club making them true "partners in service" and
key members of the Rotary family.

Through the Rotaract program, young adults not only augment
their knowledge and skills, but they also address the physical
and social needs of their communities while promoting
international understanding and peace through a framework of
friendship and service.

All Rotaract efforts begin at the local grassroots level and
Rotaract clubs have access to many of the resources of Rotary
International and The Rotary Foundation.

RYLA
Aimed at young people (14-to-30) Rotary Youth Leadership
Awards (RYLA) is a training program that emphasizes
leadership, citizenship, and personal growth.

Chosen by local Rotary clubs and districts, participants attend
and all-expenses paid seminar, camp or workshop to discuss
and practice their leadership skills.

Officially adopted by Rotary International in 1971, RYLA's
intention is to provide effective training, encourage
leadership, and publicly recognise youth who are performing
service to their communities.
Adventures in
Citizenship
Adventures in Citizenship gives participants the opportunity
to explore Canadian identity, shared values, and the
implications of the freedoms enjoy by Canadians.

The program also examines the country's history of tolerance
and its search for compromises in order to bridge differences
between peoples.

The obligation to be ethical and fair in all relationships is
considered.  Also examined are the implications of the fact
that most Canadians are either immigrants or descendants of
immigrants.

While the program is focused on governmental processes and
institutions at the federal level, it is founded on the premise
that the most important attributes of citizenship are
determined by Canadians individually and collectively.
